Harley-Davidson cuts shipments forecast; shares skid

With the manufacturer’s suggested retail price for a Harley two-wheel motor cycle running between $14 and 24,000.00 dollars (Source) it’s easy to see why many of the oldsters have to decided to give up on their “Easy Rider,” fantasies of the past.

Besides, there are only two types of motor cycle riders, those who have crashed and those who will.

I happily am of the former group and walked away unscathed to talk about it.

Clearly, many of us who tried to grow up in the 60’s were born to be wild, but how many of us still are wild today?

Of course, I am, wouldn’t have it any other way.

(Reuters) – Harley-Davidson Inc’s (HOG.N) shares slipped 10 percent on Tuesday after the motorcycle maker cut its full-year shipments forecast, underscoring slowing demand as the company’s loyal baby boomer customer base ages.

The Milwaukee-based motorcycle maker, which had previously forecast flat to modestly down full-year shipments, said it expects to ship 241,000 to 246,000 motorcycles in 2017, compared with 262,221 a year earlier.

That’s a far cry from the nearly 350,000 it shipped a year about a decade ago.

Baby boomers, Harley’s main customer base, are aging and the storied motorcycle maker is also up against discounts offered by rivals Indian brand bike maker Polaris Industries Inc (PII.N) and Japan’s Honda Motor Co Ltd (7267.T).

The Indian Scout is now shipping for $11,239.00 about half the price of the Harley. (Source)

“Given U.S. industry challenges in the second quarter and the importance of the supply and demand balance for our premium brand, we are lowering our full-year shipment and margin guidance,” Chief Executive Matt Levatich said in a statement.

The company said it expected to ship 39,000 to 44,000 motorcycles in the current quarter, suggesting a decline of up to 20 percent.

Harley’s dealers in the United States had too many 2016 models at the end of the fourth quarter, which led the company to limit shipments of its 2017 models, including higher-margin touring motorcycles with the new “Milwaukee-Eight” engine.

RBC Capital Markets analyst Joseph Spak said unless retail demand improves the company may face a similar situation.

To flush out the excess inventory that was restricting sales of its latest models, Harley took the rare step of offering rebates on its 2016 motorcycles to U.S. dealers in the first quarter.

Retail motorcycle sales fell 9.3 percent in the United States, its biggest market, and 6.7 percent globally in the second quarter ended June 25.

Harley said its share in the U.S. big-bike market fell to 48.5 percent from 49.5 percent a year earlier.

Harley said it now expects 2017 operating margin to be down about 1 percentage point.

It had previously forecast operating margin to be in line with 2016.

The company said net income fell to $258.9 million, or $1.48 per share, in the quarter, from $280.4 million, or $1.55 per share, a year earlier.

Revenue per motorcycle rose about $437 to $15,530 in the quarter, but revenue from motorcycles and related products fell about 5.6 percent to $1.58 billion.

Republicans eye billions in side deals to win Obamacare repeal votes

It’s nice to finally have evidence that their a large number of legislators on both sides of the aisle who lack principles.

Was the money donated to their PACs to be used to be proved they are  scum the same as the progressive Democrats, who passed Obama’s Health Care Rationing Plan in the dead of night while dancing in the dark, without a single Republican vote.

For their part many in congress from the GOP are making similar deals proving Republicans appear to be ready to use to accomplish their objectives?

Hardly, and that’s the reason to not donate your hard-earned money to PACs but give it to the candidates you want to support.

The White House and Senate GOP leaders have nearly $200 billion in savings to divvy up among senators’ priorities to secure votes for the imperiled bill.

White House and Capitol Hill officials are exploring potential deals to divvy up billions of dollars to each senator’ priorities in a wide-ranging bid to secure votes for the imperiled GOP health care bill.

A Congressional Budget Office score that projected 22 million fewer Americans would have insurance under the plan sent some members fleeing Monday and left the bill in jeopardy of failing to have enough votes to even be called to the Senate floor this week.

Of course, it would, they are more concerned with maintaining their grasp on personal power and perks than they would ordinarily be concerned about the constituents.

The Senate has about $188 billion to play with.

Among the possible changes: More spending for health savings accounts to appease conservatives such as Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Mike Lee, according to three people familiar with the matter, and some additional Medicaid and opioid spending for moderates.

“We are still working with leadership to change the base bill,” a Lee aide said.

Lee, Cruz and others on the right have looked to wipe out as much of Obamacare as possible and replace it with health savings accounts, group plans and selling insurance across state lines, among other ideas.

It’s not clear whether the Senate parliamentarian would allow all of those proposals through under strict reconciliation rules.

And Lee will likely require far more dramatic changes to be won over.

Trump era ‘darkest political moment’ in history: Get serious!

Would we expect anything less from a Marxist/ commie sympathizer and an acolyte of Chairman Mao?

Phil Donahue spent the majority of his life  with his head where the “Sun don’t shine, trying to appear professorial,” knowing far less than most college professors about how capitalism works.

In the interview below, Nobel Laureate, Milton Friedman, (Source) hands the fraud his hat in a two-minute Q&A with a smile on his face while Donahue buried himself deeper with his questions.

Perhaps Donahue should pick of a copy of Friedman’s. “Free to Choose.”

“The darkest political moment in history?”

Perhaps he forgot about the Civil War, WWI, Korea, WW II The Great Depression,Vietnam, our current attempts at forcing democracy on the towel heads and rug flyers in the Middle East and Africa.

I didn’t think it possible, but Donahue makes Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders and the progressives on the left, especially the members of the Congressional Black Caucus, seem somewhat normal.  (Source)

But at least he’s not a racist. LOL

Sorry with the CNN video, but he refused an invitation to go on Fox News.

In a typhoon, Donahue would be the last person to know it was raining.

As he opines about the number of people that follow President Trump and believe in him he forgets that the more recent period in U.S. History were the eight years of destructive rule by Barack Obama.

July 15, 2017

Former talk-show host Phil Donahue on Saturday reflected on President Trump’s administration, calling it “the darkest political moment in American history.”

“This is the darkest political moment in American history,” Donahue said on MSNBC Saturday.

“Who’s going to argue that?”

ME and any number of sane people in our country.

Donahue’s show “The  Donahue Show” ran for 29 years with nearly 7,000 episodes.

It’s quite interesting that he had any viewers for that long, but their have always been Democrat “Couch Potatoes.”)

He hosted Trump on the show multiple times.

“I thought he was a hot dog,” Donahue said reflecting on past interviews with Trump.

“He collected celebrities and made a lot of noise and got his name on a lot of buildings.”

Oddly, Donahue can appear rational.

When asked about whether he thought Trump could be impeached, Donahue said that Trump is too popular and it wouldn’t be a good decision for lawmakers’ popularity.

Donahue compared Trump to Elvis saying his base “will not tolerate criticism” of the president.

“I think it’s too dangerous for a member of Congress to vote for impeachment and upset a significant number of his own constituency,” Donahue explained.

“It’s a third rail he could risk his own re-election.”

“He can shoot a gun down Fifth avenue, right?”

Donahue added, referring to Trump’s past claim.

Apparently he’s not a good judge of why Trump used hyperbole when he was making his run through the primaries. (See link above: “Past Claim.”

Donahue lives in the past and didn’t approach discussing anything relevant to the current Trump Administration.

“All of a sudden we got a crotch-grabber for a President.”

Again, a little late to the dance on the above remark.

Has Donahue been hiding under a rock?

UPDATE: Abolish the A.T.F.

According to the ATF’s Mission Statement,  the ATF protects the public from crimes involving firearms, explosives, arson, and the diversion of alcohol and tobacco products.

The ATF regulates lawful commerce in firearms and explosives; and provides worldwide support to law enforcement, public safety, and industry partners.

Davidian Seventh-day Adventist Church that made headlines on February 28, 1993, when its Mount Carmel headquarters near Waco, Texas, was raided by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF); four federal agents were killed in the assault.

A lengthy standoff between the group and government agents then followed.

It ended on April 19, after some 80 members of the group, including their leader David Koresh, died when the Mount Carmel complex was burned to the ground following an attempted entrance by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents.

Although Donald Trump portrayed himself as an anti-gun control candidate on the campaign trail, the president apparently has no problem with sending federal agents into Chicago to more fiercely enforce gun laws.

The New York Times reported late last month that the Trump administration has sent in federal agencies to partner with local law enforcement in Chicago, in order to confiscate more guns:

Anthony Riccio, the chief of the Police Department’s Bureau of Organized Crime, said the new team would “significantly help our efforts to trace and stop the flow of illegal guns.”

The phrase “illegal guns” makes it sound like we’re only dealing with very sinister elements within society. But in Chicago, where gun control laws are among the most stringent in the country, the phrase “illegal guns” might as well be interpreted as “most guns, whether owned by peaceful people or not.”

Thus, it appears that the Trump administration is using federal agents to assist local politics in what is one of the most anti-gun jurisdictions in the nation. And, not coincidentally, it’s one of the most violent jurisdictions.

At the same time, as pointed out by Anti-Media, “There has yet to be any outcry from conservative or gun rights groups over Trump’s federalized gun grab in Chicago. Can you imagine what would have happened if Obama had done this?”

Trump’s contradictory stance on gun control is a time-honored tactic of Republican presidents. When George W. Bush was running for president, he announced “This nation must enforce the gun laws which exist on the books.” and pledged more aggressive enforcement.

As President, Bush did indeed pursue more prosecutions which led to the pro-gun control organization Americans for Gun Safety approvingly concluding that “the Bush Administration has made progress” on enforcing federal gun laws, including those against mere possession of a gun while violating federal drug laws.

This, of course, could bring draconian prison sentences for anyone in possession of a gun while engaged in the heinous crime of growing marijuana plants.

Spoof: OxyContin Maker Criticized For New ‘It Gets You High’ Campaign

This stuff works great, I took it for a few days when I broke my shoulder.

It’s a medication one will only use prudently for as short a period as possible.

Individuals with an addictive personality should seek other options.

It is highly addictive.

STAMFORD, CT—Caught off-guard by the shocking nationwide marketing blitz, anti-drug advocates roundly criticized Purdue Pharmaceuticals, the maker of OxyContin, for its massive new “It Gets You High” campaign.

“We’re in the midst of an unprecedented opioid crisis in this country—is it really helpful to have thousands of billboards, website banners, and bus ads touting how incredible you’ll feel after just 10 milligrams?”

The National Institute on Drug Abuse spokeswoman Tina Walters said , adding that brightly lit billboards with slogans such as “What A Rush” and “Take More, Feel Better” represented a new low for the already grossly irresponsible drug manufacturer.

“OxyContin is more than addictive enough on its own and certainly doesn’t require any assistance from television commercials that feature animated 40-mg tablets singing a catchy song about taking all the pain away or beautiful models looking into the camera and saying ‘I want an Oxy man.’”

At press time, anti-drug advocates were beside themselves upon learning Purdue had just bought the naming rights for Snorting Oxy Gets You High Faster Stadium.

Just How Arrogant is the government of the United States of America?

Few on the political right would be taken seriously if they didn’t is some way agree with the two paragraphs below the image.

Also,  reversing Obama’s Executive orders would likely come near the top of the list.

If members of our Republican led House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate had a nanogram of circulating androgens and estrogens in their withered bodies they would do the same as Poland’s government.

Here’s the naked, unadorned truth as only the intellectual giant, Professor Hanson , can so eloquently deliver it; razor-sharp and irrefutable exposé of the buffoon who goes by the fictitious name of BHO, in contrast to the rapidly emerging world-class statesman and passionate American patriot, President Donald J. Trump.

‘The billionaire, thrice-married, and creature-of-luxury Donald Trump, in his 70th year, was warning the West in Poland that precisely because it is very rich, extremely wealthy, singularly leisured, and technologically sophisticated, it faces the most peril, amid failed enemies who hate those who are more successful for encouraging their own taboo desires for something that they cannot create.’ V.
