Pakistani Taliban faction claims spokesman was captured in Afghanistan

This is exactly the type of article that makes me sad and weepy until I hear this song.

Smoke um if you got um!

He will not be missed.

One less goat fucker on the planet!

The leadership of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar is known to have ties to multiple jihadist organizations operating in the region. Omar Khalid al Khurasani, one of its top leaders, is closely linked to al Qaeda emir Ayman al Zawahiri.

Khurasani has called for the imposition of sharia law and the establishment of a global caliphate.

He has also said that a primary goal of the Pakistani Taliban is to obtain nuclear weapons. [See FDD’s Long War Journal reports, Taliban commander wants Pakistan’s nukes, global Islamic caliphate and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar celebrates 9/11 attack.]

On Apr. 17, the Pakistani military said that Ehsanullah Ehsan, the spokesman of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a dangerous faction of the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan, voluntarily surrendered. Today, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar insisted that Ehsan was “arrested” in eastern Afghanistan and later turned over to the military.

Major General Asif Ghafoor, the spokesman for the Pakistani military’s Inter-Services Public Relations branch, claimed that Ehsan “turned himself into our security agencies,” Dawn reported.

Pakistani authorities were eager to trumpet Ehsan’s alleged surrender as a victory. “There can be

“There can be no bigger achievement for Pakistan than the fact that our biggest enemies are now realizing the error of their ways and are turning themselves in,” Ghafoor said.

However, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar disputes Ghafoor’s account. Earlier today, the group issued a statement attributed to Asad Mansour, its new spokesman, claiming that Ehsan was captured on Mar. 7 by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate (ISI-D) along with “three other colleagues” and subsequently turned over to the Pakistani military.

In case the reader missed the theme song.

According to Mansour, Ehsan was captured in Afghanistan’s Paktika province, which borders Pakistan and is a known haven for multiple jihadist groups.

Mansour accused the Pakistani military of using “the Mujahideen prisoners to lure” other jihadists into negotiations and their eventual “surrender.”

Ehsan has been an influential spokesman and the face of Pakistani jihadist groups for the past decade.

He served as the spokesman for the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan up until 2014, when Jamaat-ul-Ahrar split off from the group and formed its own branch.

Ehsan joined Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and became its spokesman. Jamaat-ul-Ahrar reunited with the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan earlier this year but has maintained a degree of autonomy.

Pakistani Taliban emir calls for unity, jihad, and global caliphate

The Cult we cause Islam is dangerous enough without another towel head coming up with the idea that the world must be governed by the will of Allah through a single caliphate using overt jihad to accomplish their deed.

In our new series, now you see them, soon you won’t we recount the tail of a Taliban emir calling for unity through jihad to unite Islam with one mission:

To follow the will of Allah through the establishment of a single caliphate.

Solution:

More of these until these heathens submit to the will of the armed forces of the peace-loving countries of the world

Now you see him, soon you won’t

Mullah Fazlullah, the emir of the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan (TTP), said that his group’s ultimate goal is “to implement the law of Allah on the Earth” and called on Muslims to unite and wage jihad to achieve that end. Fazlullah, one of the most extreme commanders in a group filled with extremists, also said that attempts made by Pakistan’s military intelligence service to break up the TTP have largely failed and his group has reorganized following a tumultuous period.

Fazlullah made the statements in a video released yesterday by Umar Media, the propaganda arm of the TTP. Umar Media also provided an English language transcript of Fazlullah’s speech. He outlined the group’s primary goal in his opening statement.

“The aim of Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan [TTP] is to implement the law of Allah on the Earth of Allah.

And this will be the result of our Jihad.

For Islamic ideology, we have to make sacrifices.

By the grace of Allah, those who believe that implementation and uprising of Shariah their actual goal and absolute ambition, know that the implementation of this Shariah is impossible without practicing Jihad and Jihad is impossible without unity,” Fazlullah said.

Throughout the speech, Fazlullah quoted the Koran to provide religious justification for the TTP’s war against the Pakistani military and government and said that it is the obligation of clerics to rally Muslims to the cause.

“It is your responsibility to wake up the public, make them zealous for Islam and humanity, tell them their level and inform them about the system provided by the Allah almighty,” Falzullah implored.

Later in the speech, he outlined the obligation and responsibility of all Muslims to wage “defensive jihad.”

“In Islam there is concept of Jihad,” he noted. “At this time Jihad ud Daf’ (defensive jihad) is being conducted which is obligatory to each and every Muslim. It is written in Islamic books that when Jihad becomes Fardh Ayen i.e. obligatory for each Muslim no one has to take permission from any one, jihad becomes obligatory for each and every men and women and every Muslim becomes a fighter and a Murabit (Defender of borders). Everyone has to sacrifice themselves for protecting Islam.”

Fazlullah also said that “the cracks which were developed by ISI,” or the Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate – Pakistan’s military intelligence branch – “in this Tehreek and organization have almost uprooted.”

“[T]he step to make the Tehreek well organized, has been completed,” he continued.

‘Blind Sheikh’ Trade Center bomber Omar Abdel-Rahman dies in prison

crew-2231211This is one rag head who will not be missed.

He died two days ago while serving a life’s sentence at Federal Medical Center, Butner, Mangum Township, NC.

Rahman was convicted for his role in a conspiracy to launch terror attacks against several New York City landmarks, including the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, the FBI’s main office in Manhattan, and the United Nations building.

Investigators also found that he was involved with the jihadists responsible for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Another one bites the dust!

The Long War Journal

News broke yesterday that Omar Abdel Rahman, an Egyptian jihadi ideologue, died in a US prison. Within hours of the reports, al Qaeda re-released a copy of Rahman’s last “will,” in which Rahman asked his “brothers” to exact “revenge” for his death.

rahman-1

Died: February 18, 2017,
It’s a shame he was ever allowed to be in prison in the U.S. in the first place.  May he burn in hell.

Within hours of the reports, al Qaeda re-released a copy of Rahman’s last “will,” in which Rahman asked his “brothers” to exact “revenge” for his death.

The US District Court for the Southern District of New York convicted Rahman (seen above) on terror-related charges in 1995 and he was subsequently sentenced to life in prison.

c4_d_elwqaepqw2-300x250The ninth issue of al Qaeda’s Al-Nafir newsletter, which was released online after news of Rahman’s death spread, carried a version of Rahman’s “Will to the Islamic Ummah.”

In the text, Rahman complained of the treatment he was allegedly subjected to in an American prison, writing that the US is purposefully “eliminating the scholars who speak the truth.” (This is a common al Qaeda talking point, as the jihadis frequently accuse the Americans of targeting their “scholars.”)

Rahman claimed that the Americans will “eventually kill me,” either through poisoning, or by giving him spoiled medicine, or with an overdose of drugs. Rahman warned that the Americans will lie about the causes of his death, so the jihadis shouldn’t believe them.

Rahman, who was 78, died of natural causes, according to American officials.

His “will” has been a piece of jihadi propaganda since the 1990s.

“My brothers, if they [the Americans] kill me, and they eventually will do so, then perform my funeral and give my corpse to my family,” Rahman wrote, according to a translation of Al-Nafir obtained by FDD’s Long War Journal.

“Do not forget my blood and do not squander it, but exact a severe and fierce revenge on them for me.” Rahman called on others to remember that he was their “brother” and that he “spoke the truth” in the cause of Allah.

Al-Nafir’s version is similar to the text that was distributed in 1998.

In The Osama bin Laden I Know, Peter Bergen wrote that copies of Rahman’s “will” were distributed at a press conference hosted by Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri on May 26, 1998.

After this posting, flush the toilet, one less turd, he will never be though of again.

Osama bin Laden’s files: AQIM commander recommended training Boko Haram’s members

crew-2231211For openers, what exactly is the AQIM and what is their mission?

Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) is a Salafi-jihadist militant group and U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization (FTO) operating in the Sahara and Sahel.

The group traces its provenance to Algeria’s civil war in the 1990s and has in the past decade become an al-Qaeda affiliate with regional ambitions.

AQIM and its offshoots pose the primary transnational terror threat in North and West Africa but are unlikely to strike in the United States and Europe, according to the RAND Corp. and U.S. officials. (Source)

The flow of militants from the Sahara and Sahel to Syria and Iraq, where thousands of Moroccan and Tunisian citizens have joined terrorist groups, is raising concerns about battle-hardened fighters returning to these relatively stable countries.

Al Qaeda’s North African wing AQIM said it had killed a French hostage captured in northern Mali two years ago and that its other French captives were at risk because of France’s intervention there, Mauritania’s ANI news agency said on Sunday.

“All the other hostages are alive,” AQIM said in a communique seemingly addressed to the French people and quoted by ANI, which often receives AQIM statements.

“But we cannot guarantee their survival forever because of the attacks by your army on the mujahedeen’s bases.”

The Long War Journal

On Jan. 19, the Office of Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) released 49 documents recovered in Osama bin Laden’s compound.

To date, only a few hundred documents from bin Laden’s massive cache have been declassified.

Still, the files that have been posted online reveal new details about al Qaeda’s complex international network.

For instance, one newly released missive discusses Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb’s (AQIM) support for Boko Haram. (Source)

The letter was written by Abdelhamid Abou Zeid, an AQIM commander who was subsequently killed in Mali in 2013. It was authored in Aug. 2009 and is addressed to AQIM’s emir, Abdelmalek Droukdel (also known as Abu Musab Abdel Wadoud).

Boko Haram’s men sought AQIM’s assistance

“Imam Abubakar Shekau, who assumed power of the Nigeria group after the death of Imam Muhammad Yusuf, sent three brothers to us,” Abou Zeid wrote at the beginning of his letter.

Shekau (seen on the right) is the notorious leader of the organization commonly known as Boko Haram. Yusuf, who was killed in 2009, was Shekau’sshekau-screen-shot-300x154 immediate predecessor as head of the group.

Abou Zeid identified the “three brothers” as “Abu Muhammad Amir al Masir, Khalid al Barnawi, and Abu Rayhanah,” adding that the trio “previously lived with us in the Tariq Ibn Ziyad Battalion and we know them well and have close ties with them.”

The Tariq Ibn Ziyad Battalion has been one of AQIM’s strongest fighting units.

The three “want to have ties between their emir and the emir of AQIM and set up comms via Internet and phone,” Abou Zeid continued.

“They want to have an intermediary who is based in Niger” and “request cooperation between us and them and mentioned having a big problem with weapons and money.”

Abou Zeid explained to Droukdel that the trio wanted “to take brothers out of Nigeria and bring them here for training” and “would like to consult regarding waging jihad in Nigeria.”

The jihadis in Nigeria were desperate for “weapons and money,” Abou Zeid explained, and “some of the brothers are despairing” after their last major fight with government forces.

He indicated that the three men had only a small supply of arms and were “also having problems with explosives,” including “buying the materials.”

Many of their arms had fallen “into enemy hands” or were “broken,” and they had just “1000 detonators” for explosives.

Afghan intelligence confirms top al Qaeda leader killed in raid

crew-2231211It’s always great to read postings from the Long War Journal.

Bill Roggio and is team never fails to bring us uplifting news that the U.S. Media hides from us.

Of course, there will be music for Qari Saifullah Akhtar, funeral. (Source)

Akhtar is one of the main plotters of the September 2008 suicide attack on the Marriott hotel in Islamabad. (Source)

Akhtar acted in concert with Qari Zafar, the leader of the al Qaeda and Taliban-linked Fedayeen-i-Islam.

The US killed Zafar in an airstrike in Feb. 2010 in the town of Dargi Mandi near Miramshah in North Waziristan, a known haven for al Qaeda.

The Long War Journal

The National Directorate of Security, Afghanistan’s intelligence service, confirmed that its forces killed Qari Saifullah Akhtar, a top Pakistan al Qaeda leader, during a raid last month in the southern province of Ghazni. Akhtar’s involvement with jihad spanned four decades, and he has been directly linked to Osama bin Laden and Pakistan’s Inter-Serves Intelligence Directorate.

The NDS said it killed Akhtar and one of his “comrades,” during a raid in the district of Nawa in Ghazni on Jan. 9.

It is unclear why the NDS took more than five weeks to confirm Akhtar’s death.

z_1922909bAkhtar, operating under the orders of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, managed “a terrorist hub in the Bagram and Reshkhor regions of Kabul province,” according to the NDS.

Just one day after the raid, the Pakistani press, based on statements from jihadists in the region, reported that Akhtar was killed on Jan. 9. (Source)

However,  press reports indicated that he was killed in Paktika’s Bermal district.

The State Department announced today that Osama bin Laden’s son, Hamza, has been added to the US government’s list of designated terrorists.

screen-shot-2016-07-09-at-2-25-44-pm-768x407

State cites Hamza’s appearances in al Qaeda’s propaganda since Aug. 2015 as evidence of his important role.

The junior bin Laden has called for terror attacks throughout the West, including inside the US, and encouraged “Saudi Arabian-based tribes to unite with” Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) “to wage war against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

Al Qaeda has released several messages from Hamza since mid-2015, but they have all been audio speeches.

The terror organization has not published photos or video of Hamza as an adult, likely for security reasons.

The last known images of him are as a child.

‘Blood will be spilled’ if Anus Haqqani is executed, Taliban threatens

crew-2231211Let’s just simplify this for everyone and call Anas what he really is, an “Anus.”

In fact, to further simplify things let’s call both of them “Anus,” and cut to the chase.

The Taliban threatened to attack “judicial installations” if the Afghan government follows through on executing Anas Haqqani, the brother of the group’s deputy emir who is also the operational leader of the Haqqani Network.

“Anus” was detained in 2014 along with Qari Abdul Rasheed Omari, the Haqqani Network’s military commander for southeastern Afghanistan, after visiting the five Taliban leaders in Qatar who were exchanged for Bowe Bergdahl, the US soldier who deserted his unit in 2009 and was captured by the Taliban.

“Last time after the execution of the political prisoners many judicial installations were attacked giving severe blow to the government,” the Taliban said in a statement released on its official website, Voice of Jihad, on Sept. 2.

An Afghan court purportedly sentenced Anus to death in late August, Zee News reported at the end of the month.

Anas is the son of Jalaluddin Haqqani, the founder of the Haqqani Network who serves as a member of the Quetta Shura, the Taliban’s executive council.

Anas’ brother, Sirajuddin, is the operational commander of the al Qaeda-linked Haqqani Network who was named as one of the two deputies to Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada, the emir of the Taliban, in May 2016. Sirajuddin wields significant influence within the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban, and is also linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate.
