On The Road To Raqqa – Heavy Clashes Between Kurdish Forces And ISIS During The Battle Of Raqqa

This video features intense combat filmed by Kurdish forces and also French Special Forces on the ground in Syria.

Besides the usual amount of bombing and shooting it shows the French trying to take out a truck coming directly at them, they fire conventionally, use RPG’s and finally missiles.  I won’t spoil it for you other than to say they should stick with making white flags for surrender, over priced campaign and cheese.

Also note visually and by their voices, the number of women who are involved in the battle.

Kurdish forces are set to have Islamic State’s self-appointed capital of Raqqa isolated “by the spring” before taking out the jihadi stronghold, the UK Defence Secretary has claimed.

The Syrian Democratic Forces, which includes the powerful Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, launched the campaign on Raqqa in November in a bid to wipe out ISIS, also known as Daesh.

This month they declared a new front in the offensive, aiming to completely encircle the city and cut off the road to the militants’ stronghold in Deir al-Zor, southeast of Raqqa.

The tactical gambit could choke the terror group’s access to vital supplies used to support their unholy war.

Syria has quickly turned into the likely location of the jihadis’ last stand after losing ground in Iraq to a US and UK backed onslaught of heavy firepower.

US-backed Iraqi and Kurdish forces last month dislodged the militants from the eastern side of Mosul, their last city stronghold in Iraq, and are preparing an offensive on the parts of the city that lie west of the Tigris river.

Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said the surge towards the city will be “the beginning of the end” for the terror tyrants.

He said: “I hope that isolation will be completed by the spring and then operations to liberate Raqqa itself can begin thereafter.

“Raqqa is a much smaller city than Mosul but will clearly be defended very vigorously by Daesh and that means the operation to liberate Raqqa has to be very carefully prepared, as the operation for Mosul was.

“Once Raqqa is liberated after Mosul, we will see the beginning of the end of this terrible caliphate.”

It comes after claims a chief ISIS militant may have been destroyed by US coalition forces in Iraq.

Rachid Kassim, a French national and senior figure in the jihadi terror group, was targeted in the military strike which took place near the city of Mosul at some point in the past three days.
