Update: Schumer Says He’ll Oppose Gorsuch Nomination, Sets Up Filibuster Showdown With GOP

The  Democrat-controlled Senate approved historic rules change in 2013 by eliminating the use of the filibuster on all presidential nominees except those to the U.S. Supreme Court. (Source)

Invoking the long-threatened “nuclear option” means that most of President Barack Obama’s judicial and executive branch nominees no longer need to clear a 60-vote threshold to reach the Senate floor and get an up-or-down vote.

Speaking at the White House, Obama praised the Senate action, led by  Harry Reid, U.S. Senator (NV) accusing Republicans of attempting to block his nominees based on politics alone, not on the merits of the nominee.

Somewhere in the above statement, there is logic.  I can’t find it, can you?

“This isn’t obstruction on substance, on qualifications.

It’s just to gum up the works,” he said.

Chuckie want’s a filibuster, it’s time to let him have it.

With 20 Democrats up for elections in states that President Trump handily won, along with all members of the House of Representatives in the same states let’s just see how much testosterone and estrogen they have circulating through their useless bodies.

President Trump has said all along he would use the nuclear option, to date he has failed to do so likely wanting to play nice with the recalcitrant obstreperous ideologues on the left.

It’s time to do so Mr. President so you will be able to more rapidly initiate your agenda and rebuild America.

On the final day of the confirmation hearings for Judge Neil Gorsuch, the Senate Democratic leader announced his opposition to the Supreme Court nominee.

In a speech on the Senate floor, Chuck Schumer said Gorsuch “will have to earn 60 votes for confirmation,” setting up a showdown with Republican leaders who may attempt to change Senate rules.

If Gorsuch “cannot earn 60 votes, a bar met by each of President Obama’s nominees and George Bush’s last two nominees, the answer isn’t to change the rules,” Schumer said. “It’s to change the nominee.”

After viewing the video below, the reader will question Schumer’s sanity, if they haven’t done so already.

Please note below he is reading his remarks into the Congressional Record, there is no one to hear him, and few if any will see his remarks.  “What a guy!

To prevent the nuclear option, it would require eight Democrats to join them to move Gorsuch’s nomination forward under current Senate rules.

Short of that, Republican Senate leaders may trigger the so-called nuclear option, changing the rules to allow a simple majority to proceed.

The Gorsuch nomination has put Democrats in an excruciatingly difficult position.

They do not have the votes to vote down the Trump nominee outright, as they are a minority in the Senate.

But they are being pressed hard by liberal groups and their base to do the impossible — stop Gorsuch.

The task is impossible because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has made clear that if there is a filibuster, Republicans will change the Senate rules, just as the Democrats did for lower court judges in 2013 when they were in the majority.

Senate Democrats’ essential bind is this: They can mount a filibuster of Gorsuch because Republicans don’t have 60 votes to put an end to any filibuster.

But if Democrats were to do so, then McConnell could simply change Senate rules and lower the threshold for moving the nomination forward.

I am firmly devoted to bringing you the truth and the stories that the mainstream media ignores. Together we can restore our constitutional republic to what the founding fathers envisioned and fight back against the progressive movement. Obama nearly destroyed our country economically, militarily coupled with his racism he set us further on the march to becoming a Socialist State. Now it's up to President Trump to restore America to prominence. Republicans who refuse to go along with most of his agenda RINOs must be forced to walk the plank, they are RINOs and little else.

  1. I think Chucky baby has gone senile…didn’t Harry Reid use the nuke option? The constant whining and crying from the snowflakes is really getting on my nerves.
