White House press slams Spicer for invite-only briefing

What better way to assure accurate reporting than to pick and choose who will be granted entrance to a press briefing.

 

The term “Fake News,” is sickening and anyone who watches the television or goes online for that matter is continually blasted with it. 

 

Eventually, the owners of the media will get the picture, if you want the story, tell the truth.

Journalists, for the most part, have lost their way.

Spicer seems to be too nice of a guy.

I would have loved to see a person of the caliber of Laura Ingraham, deal with the confused folks who pretend to write the news.

 

 With brains and a cutting sense of humor, she would have taken no grief from those who love to talk over one another.

She cautioned: “I think people are getting a little far ahead of the narrative.” But she strongly suggested that some sort of Trump administration post is in the works.

Based entirely on this interview segment it certainly appears that Laura Ingraham has been made an offer and is considering the ramifications: (Source)

“It’s a big decision, but I’m at the point where, if my country needs me, and if I can do something to actually, you know, advance the Trump agenda, which is stuff I have written about now for 15 years, with trade, immigration and just renewing America, then I obviously have to seriously consider that,” she told Fox’s Tucker Carlson.

Other people are in contention for the post as well, the sources told CNN.

Sean Spicer of the RNC and Jason Miller of the Trump campaign are two obvious possibilities.

But Ingraham’s name stands out because of her nationally syndicated talk radio show and her close ties to Trump.

Ingraham, 53, spoke at the Republican National Convention over the summer and advised Trump ahead of the fall debates. She has also advocated for Trump on her radio show and in numerous Fox News appearances.

The president is under no obligation to hold press conferences.

When he does he can invite who he chooses, after all, the press room is the size that it is.

If a president doesn’t like a particular correspondent or the venue he covers, he is under no obligation to call on them.

The White House Correspondents’ Association on Friday “strongly” protested the White House decision to host an invite-only press briefing on Friday that excluded outlets like the New York Times and CNN.

“The WHCA board is protesting strongly against how today’s gaggle is being handled by the White House,” Reuters reporter and chairman of the association Jeff Mason said in a statement Friday. “

We encourage the organizations that were allowed in to share the material with others in the press corps who were not.

The board will be discussing this further with White House staff.”

There was no televised daily White House briefing on Friday, and instead, White House press secretary Sean Spicer invited some reporters to a “gaggle” in the afternoon.

The Washington Examiner was among the outlets invited to the briefing.

Both the New York Times and CNN were among those not invited. (Nor were they missed)

“I think that we have shown an abundance of accessibility,” Spicer said during the meeting, noting that there were complaints from journalists who were not invited.

“We have brought more reporters into this process and the idea that every time, that every person can’t get their question answered or fit into the briefing room – we’ve actually gone above and beyond in making ourselves our team and our briefing room more accessible than probably any prior administration.”

Time magazine and Associated Press were invited but declined to attend the briefing.

Many in the media complained about being shut out.

New York magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi said on Twitter that “discriminating against certain outlets IS a story.”

Washington Post media reporter Erik Wemple, also on Twitter, said that New York Times Washington Bureau Chief Elisabeth Bumiller told him, “Our most experienced White House reporters have never seen anything like this.
